At the Liverpool Language Lab, we're

interested in finding out the answers

to the BIG questions: how do children

learn to communicate using

language? How do
children's

language abilities develop over time?

And how
and why do language skills

vary across children?

Click below to find out how we

try to find these answers using

different studies!

Study shows that family conversation at

home is associated with brain

development in children
Researchers at MIT have used MRI scans to

show that conversation between an adult

and a child appears to change the child’s

brain,
and that this back-and-forth

exchange boosts children’s brain response to

language more than the sheer number of

words spoken to them. To find out more,

watch the video above or read the article

here.
